Walking
Walking is one of the best physical activities you can do and there are many opportunities available. Whether you want to walk and talk with a group of like minded people at a leisurely pace or take a more energetic walk on your own in some of the borough's beautiful open spaces and countryside there is plenty of guidance to get you going.
- Basingstoke Wellbeing Walks

Basingstoke Wellbeing Walks encourages people of all ages to join regular, short walks in their own communities. The walks help boost the health of participants whilst enjoying local, natural spaces in the company of others. The social side of walking can be as important for wellbeing as the walk itself.

Walking is one of the easiest types of exercise people can do: it’s free, requires no special equipment and can be done by most people almost anywhere!
Basingstoke Wellbeing Walks is operated by Basingstoke Voluntary Action under the umbrella of Ramblers and is part of England’s largest network of health walk schemes, helping all kinds of people to lead a more active lifestyle. Our walks are led by friendly, knowledgeable people, specially trained for the job.
Along with fellow walkers, our walk leaders provide all the advice and encouragement a new walker needs to build fitness at a pace that’s right for them. In just a short time, a small amount of regular exercise can significantly improve a person’s health, well-being and social interaction.
