Council tax

The council tax band applied to each domestic property is determined by the Valuation Office Agency and is based on factors such as the market value of the property on 1 April 1991. If you feel that the council tax band that has been applied to your property is incorrect, you do have the right to appeal against this. All appeals are dealt with by the Valuation Office, and they can be contacted at: The Valuation Office, Overline House, Central Station, Blechynden Terrace, SO25 2GW or phone 03000 501 501. You can also find out more information about valuation matters on their website: www.voa.gov.uk

For information on how your council tax is spent, please read our guide to council tax.

Council tax completion notice

A completion notice is issued under schedule 4a of the Local Government Finance Act 1992, where a newly erected or altered building has been substantially completed for the purpose of council tax valuation, or the work remaining to be done on the building can reasonably be expected to be completed within a period of up to three months.

Please use the form below to confirm that you agree the completion notice date for a property.
