Current Community Plans

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council (BDBC) encourages all local communities in the borough to get involved in shaping their local areas. It is supporting communities across the borough’s towns and villages to develop their own community-led plans. See below for communities that are currently consulting, the groups we are working with, and published community plans.

Rural communities

Community plans for East Woodhay, Kingsclere, North Waltham, Oakley and St Mary Bourne have been developed and adopted by the local parish councils.

Communities within Basingstoke

Six urban communities now have published plans:

The South Ham Network, a group of local organisations covering South Ham, the Berg Estate and the South Ham extension is taking forward a plan that was published in 2013, developed by a local residents' group.

The Marnel and Merton Community Plan (in west Popley) was developed by the Marnel and Merton Community Group and was launched in June 2014.

Two community planning groups covering the Shakespeare Road and Popley Islands have joined forces to produce a plan for Popley East.

The Buckskin Ward Community Plan was published in October 2017 following wide engagement led by the 4B resident group.

The Winklebury Community Action Group has involved local residents to develop its community-led plan in November 2017.

The Kempshott Ward Community Plan has been published and distributed to every household in Kempshott, following wide engagement led by various working groups within the ward. They can be contacted by emailing or visit the Kempshott Community Plan website for further information on the plan.

Actions from all these plans are being taken forward by their local communities with the support of other local agencies.

The community planning group established in January 2017 undertook an initial survey and has collated and distributed a summary of residents views. However the group has stopped meeting.
Hatch Warren and Beggarwood Beggarwood and Hatch Warren Community Planning Group established and planning initial survey. Beggarwood and Hatch Warren Community Planning Group established and considering next steps.
