Bin collection service updates
We continue to experience operational issues with bin collections in some areas of the borough.
Each week we are still collecting approximately 155,000 grey and green bins, garden waste bags and glass recycling boxes and bins, however some residents are experiencing delays in these collections and we apologise for this inconvenience. Of those bins, bags and boxes not collected on their scheduled day most are being collected within 24 hours. For any delayed collection please do leave out your bins, bags and boxes.
The operational issues have focused around vehicle breakdowns and staff shortages being suffered by our contractor Veolia. The company is working hard to resolve these and has brought in additional vehicles to support the service and is working with agencies to recruit to the vacancies. Existing staff are working additional hours, including Saturdays, to catch up on collections. As a council we have made it very clear to Veolia this fall off in performance is unacceptable and we working with them to restore all collections to their scheduled day.
To help residents we are regularly updating our website with the latest information on the day’s bin collections. If bins, boxes or bags are not collected on their scheduled day we are listing incomplete rounds and clarifying estimated collection dates on this webpage. We update this page during the day with an aim to provide a full update for the day by 9pm.
Once again we apologise for the inconvenience caused to those residents affected and we will continue to seek to have measures implemented that will return the service to normal as soon as possible.
There are no outstanding collections.

If you have checked the service updates and there are no problems in your area, there may be another reason why your waste or recycling was not collected. Before reporting a missed collection, check your bin collection date or check our webpage why hasn't my waste or recycling been collected?.
