Grant aid and scholarships
This year the borough is celebrating the 29th anniversary of its Sports Grant Aid Scheme. The council has invested in excess of £188,000 into the scheme over the years to assist sports men and women in their efforts to achieve full national, international and Olympic honours. The council, in partnership with Basingstoke Sports Council who administer the scheme, is particularly proud to be able to assist local athletes in this special way.
Applicants must be between the ages of 10-24 years old, live in the borough and be at least county representative standard or equivalent within their sport. Grants are available to provide assistance with travelling and coaching expenses, qualifications, plus equipment and clothing requirements.
All grant aid applicants are also considered for the local and county Sports Awards and for scholarships or support from local facilities including the Sports Centre, Aquadrome and Tadley Pool.
Applications should be fully supported by the coach, club, National Governing Body or teacher of the applicant and also include any other additional information that would support the grant application, for example press releases.
Applications for this scheme closed at 9pm on 2 December 2017. They will re-open in September 2018.
