Housing, health, criminal justice, community safety and voluntary sector professionals gathered earlier this week for a session that highlighted the help they offer to people experiencing or at risk of rough sleeping.
More than 80 attendees from 20 different organisations came together for the Supported Housing Information Networking Event 2026, held at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s Civic Offices on Tuesday (29 September).
The annual event was hosted by the unique Basingstoke and Deane Social Inclusion Partnership, which brings the borough council and other local organisations and charities together to take a joined-up approach to helping people who need it most.
Attendees had the opportunity to learn first-hand about the range of housing and homelessness support services available in Basingstoke and Deane and to build stronger connections between the organisations that support some of the borough’s most vulnerable residents.
They met specialists covering areas including social housing, temporary accommodation, mental health services and domestic abuse support, who were able to show which services professionals should refer those who need different types of help to.
Representatives came from a wide range of organisations, including Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Alongside, Basingstoke Foodbank, Citizens Advice Basingstoke and Basingstoke Voluntary Action.
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Residents’ Services and Housing said: "Events like this are so valuable in helping us join up the support that's already out there. When professionals across different services know exactly who to contact and how, that makes a real difference to the people who need help the most. I'd like to thank the Social Inclusion Partnership and everyone who took part for their continued work to support some of the most vulnerable people in the borough."
Individuals sleeping rough can be reported to StreetLink so they can be connected to local support services at https://TheStreetLink.org.uk
