The referendum was held on Thursday 20 June 2024. The question asked in the referendum was:
"Do you want Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Cliddesden to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?"
The referendum area is identified on the map which is included within the information statement. The referendum area is identical to the area which has been designated as the Neighbourhood Plan area for Cliddesden.
If more than 50% of individuals vote ‘yes’ in the referendum, then Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council will ‘make’ the Cliddesden Neighbourhood Plan. If the Neighbourhood Plan is ‘made’ it will help determine planning applications in the Cliddesden Neighbourhood Area. It will also form part of the statutory development plan for Basingstoke and Deane.
The referendum was conducted in accordance with procedures similar to those used in local government elections.
