The referendum for the Silchester Neighbourhood Plan was held on Thursday 5 March 2026. The results of the poll included: 174 votes in favour (92.5%) and 13 votes against (6.9%). More than 50% of those voting in the referendum voted ‘yes’ and therefore the neighbourhood plan has become part of the statutory development plan for the parish of Silchester.

The referendum was held on Thursday 5 March 2026. The question asked in the referendum was:
"Do you want Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Silchester to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?"
The referendum area is identified on the map which is included within the information statement. The referendum area is identical to the area which has been designated as the Neighbourhood Plan area for Silchester.
The referendum was conducted in accordance with procedures similar to those used in local government elections.
