Accessibility for all

We place a high priority on creating an inclusive environment where everyone, regardless of their personal characteristics, can participate equally.

Our Inclusion and Diversity Officer

A focal point of the role of our Inclusion and Diversity officer is to raise awareness of accessibility issues by:

  • working with local groups including the Disability Forum for Basingstoke and District to develop new ways to improve access
  • supporting the Access 4 All Awareness Group to give advice and guidance on improving access to buildings and services

You can contact our Inclusion and Diversity Officer by emailing community.development@basingstoke.gov.uk, or phoning 01256 845325.

The Disability Forum

An organisation of and for disabled people, providing a forum:

  • to share concerns
  • to assess existing services
  • to plan new services
  • to ensure that disabled people have a voice in decisions that affect them.

If you have a personal interest in disability because you are disabled, you are a carer or have a professional interest, the Disability Forum would be happy to welcome you to the group.

Contact the Disability Forum on 01256 423869, by emailing info@bddf.org.uk or by writing to:

Access 4 All Awareness Group (A4AAG)

An independent voluntary group, which liaises with the council. Members of the Working Group have an interest in disability issues because they have a disability themselves or because they know or work with disabled people.

A4AAG is a relatively small group of volunteers who seek to make the local environment fully and equally accessible for all, taking into account the needs of people with various disabilities and impairments. If you are interested in joining the group, please email access4allbd@gmail.com.
