What can you do? - Climate Change toolkit
Climate change, as a result of human activity, remains arguably the greatest threat to our world. Significant impacts are also expected locally in Basingstoke and Deane, particularly for the most vulnerable members of our community, through increased summer temperatures and more extreme weather events with increased peak rainfall.
We can all take action that will reduce our impact, as well as wider benefits, such as saving money and improving our health.
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has declared a Climate Emergency and is working towards making Basingstoke and Deane a net zero carbon borough by 2030. As part of our work to do this, we are looking to inspire action among all our residents, as local and personal action is vital to reducing our emissions.
The Committee on Climate Change recently said ‘It will not be possible to get close to meeting Net Zero without engaging with people or by pursuing an approach that focuses only on supply-side changes [meaning just changes to the way energy, transportation and products are generated and delivered to us]’.
View the guides below which aim to help residents and groups understand how they can take action to tackle climate change.
