University and colleges

We have two main colleges in Basingstoke and Deane - Basingstoke College of Technology and Queen Mary’s College where you can study from GCSE to degree level. University College Winchester is also in the town offering foundation degrees and much more.

Basingstoke College of Technology (BCOT)

BCOT was built in 1948 to support the local engineering industry. Apprentices from Thorneycroft would walk to the College from the factory on Worting Road, where a supermarket is now located.

Today, you will find a relevant course at the college for most occupations. BCOT now attracts over 10,000 people from the borough every year onto its courses - from foundation to degree level in subjects as diverse as construction, catering, engineering, design, and management.

Visit BCOT’s website to find out more.

QMC is a large sixth form college located to the south of Basingstoke town centre. It provides over 100 courses for ages 16-19 and adult learners. Over 60% of students go onto higher education.

The college has 2,100 full-time daytime students mainly aged 16 to 19 years. The 1,000 adult students mostly attend the college in the evening or take courses organised through partner community schools.
