Proposals to relocate facilities at Basingstoke Golf Centre

In July 2024, the council reached a conditional agreement with Great Wolf Resorts to build an indoor water park resort on land next to the leisure park after the major US-based leisure operator identified an interest in bringing one of its family attractions to Basingstoke.

The site is currently home to Basingstoke Golf Centre, owned by the council and operated by the Basingstoke Leisure Trust and managed by Serco. This provides a par-three nine-hole golf course, an 18-hole adventure golf zone and a floodlit driving range.

Recognising the importance of accessible golf facilities, the council has investigated options for land it owns that could provide a good location to relocate these facilities.

Plans for Basingstoke Leisure Park

Proposals for a pod-style driving range and adventure golf course at Basingstoke Leisure Park will be taken forward as part of plans to reprovide facilities currently at Basingstoke Golf Centre.

This would see a golf-pod style driving range and 18-hole adventure golf course created on unused land overlooking Churchill Way West, subject to getting planning permission.

Exploring sites for a pitch and putt course

At a meeting on Tuesday 6 January, Cabinet agreed to no longer consider Down Grange as a potential location for a new pitch and putt course.

Alongside the proposed facilities at the leisure park, work will continue to consider the right longer-term location for a new pitch and putt course for the future.
