Licensing Act 2003 Policy
Under the Licensing Act 2003 we, as licensing authority, are required to produce a Statement of Licensing Policy every five years. This sets out how we will carry out out functions under the Act and how we will promote the licensing objectives.
The four objectives are:
- prevention of crime and disorder
- prevention of public nuisance
- public safety
- protection of children from harm
The council's current Statement of Licensing Policy for 2018 to 2023 is attached below.
We recommend all applicants for licences under the Licensing Act 2003 read the council's licensing policy before submitting an application.
Following legislative changes, new initiatives and strategic aims impacting on licensing, a full review of the Statement of Licensing Policy was carried out. The policy has now been produced and approved by the council's licensing committee and adopted by full council.
