Response to government consultation on proposed changes to the planning system, September 2024

The Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government consulted upon proposed reforms to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and other changes to the planning system from 30 July to 24 September 2024. Information on the consultation can be viewed on the GOV.UK website.

In response, the council's administration has submitted a letter outlining headline issues, in addition to a more technical response which considers the specific questions set out in the consultation.

In the best interest of the borough, the council will respond to national consultations on planning related matters. Where it is suitable to do so, the submitted representations will be published on this webpage for the period of one year but further information can be obtained from the Planning Policy Team.
