Retail Assessment
The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) highlights the importance of Local Planning Authorities supporting economic growth and ensuring the vitality of town centres.
A Retail Assessment was undertaken in January 2009 and considered the following:
- the need for land or floorspace for economic development, including for retail and leisure development
- the role and function of town centres and the relationship between them, including any trends in the performance of centres
- the capacity of existing centres to accommodate new town centre development.
Further updates have been undertaken to the Retail Assessment, including an update in July 2009, in December 2012, and more recently in August 2015. These are available to view and download below:
