The role of the Inclusion and Diversity Officer
Our Inclusion and Diversity Officer is a focal point for access issues throughout the borough. Their role is to raise awareness of accessibility issues by:
- Working with local groups including the Disability Forum for Basingstoke and District to develop new ways to improve access.
- Supporting the Access 4 All Working Group to give advice and guidance on improving access to buildings and services.

The Disability Forum is an organisation of and for disabled people. It provides a forum:
- to share concerns
- to assess existing services
- to plan new services
- to ensure that disabled people have a voice in decisions that affect them.

Access 4 All Working Group
Access 4 All Working Group (A4AWG) is an independent voluntary group, which liaises with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council. Members of the Working Group have an interest in disability issues because they have a disability themselves or because they know or work with disabled people. A4AWG is a relatively small group of volunteers who seek to make the local environment fully and equally accessible for all, taking into account the needs of people with various disabilities and impairments.
