A grant scheme to support improvements to high streets and town and village centres in the borough
The Town and Village Centre Fund (the Fund) aims to support high street businesses and landlords with making improvements to their premises. The Fund will provide grants to existing and new businesses to upgrade shop fronts and building facades as well as grants for new internal fit outs and for the creation of outdoor seating areas.
The Fund has been set up as part of the council’s Town Centre Strategy and improvement plans for the Top of the Town area as well as to support the vibrancy of towns and villages in rural parts of the borough.
Thriving businesses in well maintained properties make a significant impact on the appearance and vibrancy of high streets and town and village centres. High quality and well-maintained buildings also make an area feel more welcoming to local residents and visitors, improve the area’s image, contribute towards a stronger sense of identity, and encourage more footfall.
