We know that residential properties may become empty for several reasons. Whenever possible we try to work with the owner to bring the property back into use.
Empty properties can have the following issues:
If you are an owner and wish to bring your property back into use, we have a private rent scheme which is a free, fast and flexible route to letting. Through our private rent scheme, you can manage your property and choose from tenants we nominate. There are no fees attached and you will receive free photographic inventories conducted by an independent company and free Assured Shorthold Tenancies (AST) drawn up.
You will benefit from a dedicated Landlord Liaison Officer, who will provide you with support and guidance. Further information about becoming a landlord through the council can be found on our Private rent - landlords webpage.
If you are concerned about a residential empty property near you that is causing a public health related problem, is adversely affecting the local community or the structural condition of the building is creating a health and safety risk, you can report it online.
