Equality Impact Assessments

One of the ways the council works towards making services accessible is by using Equality Impact Assessment (EIAs). Where relevant, these are carried out on certain new or changed services, strategies and policies. The aim of EIAs is to identify any potential barriers or discrimination and promote equality of opportunity and good relations between different groups.

If a potentially negative impact of a proposed action is identified in an EIA, reasonable ways in which to deal with it are considered, prior to a decision being taken on the proposed change or new service.

EIAs also support the council to meet its Public Sector Equality Duty, under the Equality Act 2010. Find out more information on our Public Sector Equality Duty page.

The council has carried out a number of EIAs, which include the full EIAs below. These have been validated by the council's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy Group.
