The application by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and Hampshire County Council to the High Court for a final injunction against the setting up of unauthorised encampments within the urbanised area of Basingstoke town, as well as the outlying areas of Bramley, Silchester, Tadley Common and a small parcel of land at Stratfield Turgis was granted on 28 March 2025. The injunction includes provision for powers of arrest and will be in place until 3 April 2026 and prevents unauthorised encampments in a 26 square mile radius of Basingstoke and Deane.

The documents in support of the extended area and finalising the injunction can also be viewed by calling the council on 01256 844844 and asking to speak to the Environmental Health Duty Officer to arrange an appointment to view them at the Civic Offices.
On 12 February 2025 Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council applied to the High Court to extend the injunction for another year. The date of the hearing is scheduled to be 20 March 2025. The documents in support of the application can be viewed below.

The policy below has been adopted to provide, those who wish to set up an encampment in the borough, the opportunity to seek written permission to do so, whether this is within the injunction area or not.
