Parking permits and season tickets
Both on-street and off-street parking is available in Basingstoke. On-street parking is on public highway (any road other than private roads) and off-street parking is in public car parks.
Resident and visitor permits
The council is responsible for the administration of 15 residents' on-street parking schemes in the borough. Residents can apply for a parking permit which will provide them with on-street parking in the roads covered by the scheme relevant to their home address.
There is an annual fee for both the resident and visitor permits and an administration fee is payable for any replacement permits. You can apply by calling our Customer Service Centre on 01256 844844. For your application to be successful, you must provide valid proof of your address, this is normally your current council tax reference number.
The charge for a resident parking permit is £25 per year, visitor permits are £25 per year and free to residents who are over 75 years of age. (Please note increased prices effective from 1 April 2020.)
Residents' and visitors' parking permits expire annually and reminder letters are sent to all residents approximately three weeks before expiry.
Certain permits can now be renewed online by visiting our parking permit renewal form page. If you are eligible to renew your permit online your renewal invite letter will explain how to do this. Alternatively you can call 01256 844844 with your current council tax reference number and you can renew over the phone by debit/credit card.
If you change your vehicle at any time, you need to return your residents' permit with the old registration number on it and advise us of your new vehicle registration number. Please note there is a replacement permit fee payable for all replacement permits.
Residents who are 75 years of age or over may apply for a free visitor permit. To qualify for this concession, you will need to provide us with a copy of your birth certificate, passport or driving licence either by post or in person.
