Equipped play areas
Play areas and exercise equipment are now available to use. New signage has been installed by our play inspection team to provide guidance on using the equipment safely.
Play areas provide a range of challenging experiences for children in a relatively safe environment where they can develop skills such as creativity, meet other children and become more independent and aware of their own abilities.
We provide over 150 play areas around the borough and are committed to maintaining them as safely as possible.
All council play areas are inspected daily or weekly depending on use so that hazards such as glass and litter are kept to a minimum and that the equipment is in good working order.
Chineham Park Splash Pad
Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday 14 June that that there will be a pause in the roadmap out of lockdown, the council’s fountains, paddling pool and splash pad will remain closed until at least Monday 19 July.
These informal facilities are not supervised and due to their design there is no way to control the number of users and no system in place to log those people using it.
The safety of our residents is always the council’s first priority and we are continuing to monitor the government’s roadmap announcements to ensure that the facilities are used in accordance with their advice.
