Equipped play areas
Play areas and exercise equipment are now available to use. New signage has been installed by our play inspection team to provide guidance on using the equipment safely.
Play areas provide a range of challenging experiences for children in a relatively safe environment where they can develop skills such as creativity, meet other children and become more independent and aware of their own abilities.
We provide over 150 play areas around the borough and are committed to maintaining them as safely as possible.
All council play areas are inspected daily or weekly depending on use so that hazards such as glass and litter are kept to a minimum and that the equipment is in good working order.
Chineham Park Splash Pad
The paddling pool at Eastrop Park and Chineham Park Splash Pad will remain closed.
From 11 July, owners of outdoor pools and water play can re-open their facilities if they choose to as long as government guidance can be met. The guidance focuses on regular cleaning, restricting the number of people using the pools or water play areas and having a record of who has used the facility.
Both of these facilities are free to use and are not staffed. As the council is concerned it cannot currently meet the guidance and ensure the safety of those people using these two areas, both facilities will remain closed to the public.
We will continue to monitor the guidance from government.
