Equipped play areas
In line with the latest Government announcement we are working to reopen our play areas from Saturday 4 July. We are responsible for 150 play areas and all of these need to be inspected and new signage installed by our play inspection team before we can safely reopen to the public. We will also be reopening and inspecting 50 play areas belonging to parish and town councils in the borough as well as outdoor gyms. This is likely to take a number of days to complete and we ask residents to remain patient while we carry out this large piece of work and not to use a play area or outdoor gym until it has been reopened and declared fit for use by our team.
Play areas provide a range of challenging experiences for children in a relatively safe environment where they can develop skills such as creativity, meet other children and become more independent and aware of their own abilities.
We provide over 150 play areas around the borough and are committed to maintaining them as safely as possible.
All council play areas are inspected daily or weekly depending on use so that hazards such as glass and litter are kept to a minimum and that the equipment is in good working order.
Chineham Park Splash Pad
The Splash Pad will be open 10am to 7pm every day from April to September. Although opening times may change due to unforeseen circumstances.
Please note after extended periods of high usage, the splash pad may temporarily shut down in order to top up its water supply. This can take up to 30 minutes.
