Alternatively CycleStreets provides a UK-wide cycle route journey planner enabling you to plan your journey via the quietest or fastest route by postcode or address. The routes estimate emissions avoided and calories burnt as well as giving information on journey times, distances and elevations.
Forming a key section of the National Cycle Network (NCN) in Hampshire, this route is largely traffic free between Basingstoke Town Centre and Chineham, and then follows quiet lanes passing Silchester and then through West Berkshire and on to Reading.
An additional section of the NCN was opened linking Basingstoke with Alton and New Alresford. This 23 mile section of the route provides for some excellent cycling and passes through the attractive villages of Cliddesden and Ellisfield.
The route is signed using the distinctive NCN blue signage with destination and distance information at key interchanges.
