Household waste recycling centre (or tip) - managed by Hampshire County Council
|Hampshire County Council has made a decision to stop funding permits for residents in the north of the borough to use West Berkshire’s Household Waste Recycling Centre in Newtown.
This means nearly 5,000 residents who currently have a permit would no longer be able to use this facility to dispose of their waste and recycling from 1 August 2020. These residents would need to use the Hampshire County Council tips at Andover or Basingstoke.
We have asked Hampshire County Council and West Berkshire Council – who are responsible for Household Waste Recycling Centres - to rethink this decision and find a solution that meets the needs of our residents in the north of the borough, reduces unnecessary travel and supports our Climate Emergency targets to be a carbon neutral borough by 2030.
For the time being, those residents with permits can continue to use the Household Waste Recycling Centre at Newtown through the booking system and we will provide updates when we have them.
