Amendment to the Local Land Charges Rules 1977 - personal search fee

Since the 17 August 2010 Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council no longer charges a fee to undertake a personal search of the Local Land Charges register.

Local Land Charges registers

From Monday 13 July 2020 you will need to book an appointment to access the local land charges registers by calling 01256 844844 select Planning on Option 4, and then select Option 5 (Any Other Planning Enquiry) and finally Option 1 to make an appointment.

  • Appointments will be booked for how many searches you require to carry out, 15 minutes per search upto a maximum of four per a day total appointment time of 60 minutes and will be available between 9am and 3pm Monday to Friday.
    Please note that you will not be able to request print outs, you will need to bring a notebook and pen with you to write down the information that you need.

  • Please arrive at your allocated appointment time as early arrival may mean you will be waiting outside the Civic Offices. When you arrive at the Civic Offices make your way to Parklands reception front entrance (opposite the memorial) press intercom and clearly state your name and service you have an appointment with.

  • On entry to reception please use the hand gel provided. Please respect social distancing at all times, pay attention to floor markings.

From time to time it is possible that you only require information in response to particular questions within form CON29.

There are two different methods available to you to source this information.

Those received via the Local Land Charges team locallandcharges@basingstoke.gov.uk are dealt with as official requests, given an official number and the responses provided on our official forms. This indemnified enhanced service provided by the Local Land Charges team gives you peace of mind that these responses are covered by our insurance indemnity. This ‘additional value’ is charged for in accordance with the charges schedule published below.

Alternatively to receive the same information free of charge provided under the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) please make a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 email foi@basingstoke.gov.uk. Please note that the information provided under the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) is raw data which has not been verified by the council’s Local Land Charge Team and, therefore, is not subject to any indemnity from the council.
