Report fly-tipping

Fly-tipping is the illegal dumping of waste. Some people think nothing of dumping their waste. Fly-tipping involving the use of a vehicle can lead to the courts making an order for seizure of the vehicle.

Below is a guide to reporting fly-tipping. If possible please make a note of:

  • the day, date and time you saw the activity taking place
  • what you saw
  • how many people were involved and what they looked like
  • what they are actually doing
  • any vehicles involved: make, model, colour and registration number
  • where you were when you saw the incident
  • what kind of view you had
  • how far away you were
  • the weather and light conditions
  • in the case of fly-tipping what was dumped, for example household or business waste, garden rubbish, broken furniture
  • how much was dumped, for example black sacks, wheelbarrow full of green waste, contents of a car boot, van load

Please do not put yourself at any risk if you witness an incident. Do not approach any person you suspect of fly-tipping, your personal safety is always the most important thing.

We spend considerable amounts of time and money removing fly-tipped rubbish and we are seeking your help to prevent this problem. Please report fly-tipping by clicking the button below:

Many of you may also be unknowingly adding to this problem - when tradesmen call and offer to trim your hedge, or do a bit of tree surgery, or even re-lay your drive. Do you know what they do with the waste? We do! Always try to use local, reputable companies and then perhaps the problem will reduce. You can check to see if they are a registered waste carrier on the Environment Agency website
